A booking is only confirmed once deposit has been made and proof of payment has been submitted via email or WhatsApp and acknowledged by a representative of Bashford Fishing Charters.
Payment details and confirmation contact numbers will be provided upon booking enquiry.
Provisional bookings will only be held for 7 days, thereafter the deposit must be made to secure booking.
Fishing Licenses
Each guest is responsible for obtaining a valid recreational fishing permit from the South African Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE, formerly DAFF).
These permits can be purchased at most post offices or online via the official DFFE portal.
Failure to produce a valid permit if requested by an authority may result in fines or confiscation of catch, and is not the responsibility of Bashford Fishing Charters.
Arrival & Departure
Clients must arrive at the agreed meeting point at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time.
A maximum grace period of 60 minutes will be allowed, thereafter the charter will be cancelled and no refund issued.
Late arrivals may result in a shortened trip to avoid impacting other bookings.
Cancellations & Refund Policy
Conditions to dangerous to launch, and charter being cancelled by the skipper, the charter will be rescheduled to a suitable time for client. Alternatively, if requested, a refund can be issued less 10%.
Client cancellation refund policy
More than 14 days – charter cost less 5%
7 to 14 days – refund charter cost less 10%
Less than 7 days – refund charter cost less 25%
No-shows (failure to arrive without notice) will result in full forfeiture of payment.
All refunds will be made via EFT within 7 working days.
Weather & Safety
The skipper’s decision is final regarding sea conditions and safety. Bashford Fishing Charters reserves the right to cancel, shorten, or reschedule trips due to unforeseen weather, sea state, or mechanical issues.
All passengers are required to attend a mandatory safety briefing prior to departure.
Bashford Fishing Charters complies with all SAMSA (South African Maritime Safety Authority) safety standards and regulations.
Indemnity & Liability
All guests participate at their own risk.
Bashford Fishing Charters, its staff, owners, and affiliates will not be held liable for:
Any injury, loss of life, damage to personal belongings, or other claims arising from negligence, weather conditions, or sea hazards.
Clients will be required to sign an indemnity and liability waiver before boarding.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
Age & Fitness Requirements
While trips are open to all ages, guests must be in reasonable physical condition to board and disembark the vessel and endure rough sea conditions.
Surf launches can be physically demanding and may not be suitable for individuals with back, neck, heart conditions, or mobility issues. Please consult your doctor if unsure.
What to Bring
Light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages
Warm clothing (sea temperatures and winds can change quickly)
Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses
Cooler box or plastic bags to transport your catch
Personal seasickness medication (recommended if prone to motion sickness)
Alcohol, Smoking & Conduct
Moderate alcohol consumption is allowed; however, no intoxicated guests will be permitted to board or remain onboard.
Smoking is permitted only in designated areas and at the skipper’s discretion.
Any unruly, aggressive, or unsafe behaviour will result in immediate termination of the trip without refund.
Catch Policy
All legal fish caught belong to the guests. Catch limits as per government regulation apply.
The skipper reserves the right to release endangered or undersized species.
Bashford Fishing Charters supports ethical and sustainable fishing practices.
Media & Photography
Photos or video may be taken during trips for promotional purposes.

Force Majeure
Bashford Fishing Charters is not liable for delays or cancellations due to events beyond our control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, strikes, civil unrest, pandemics, or government restrictions.
